Derby week on Epsom Downs
Epsom Downs Racecourse has hosted the Derby since the 18th century, and the race meeting each June is the biggest event of Epsom's year. Tens of thousands of people head for the Downs, and the roads around the course become some of the busiest in Surrey.
If you're going to the Derby or any race meeting:
- Book well in advance. Demand for cars on Derby weekend is high.
- Agree a pickup point for the return, away from the main exits if possible, so your driver can reach you.

Town centre and the station
Epsom's town centre, around the market place and the Ashley Centre, is a popular shopping trip. Epsom station has both Southern and South Western Railway services into London. We collect from the station at any hour.
Flying from Epsom
Epsom is one of the areas we cover where Gatwick is often the most convenient airport, reached by heading south to the M25 and M23. Heathrow is also usually within an hour. Book either with your flight number.
A town with a history
Before the racing, Epsom was a spa town, and Epsom salts take their name from the mineral spring discovered on Epsom Common in the 1600s. The common is still a large area of open land on the town's western side, popular for walks.
